Casa Nova
Commissioned by Barcode Architects, Hans Wilschut photographed Casa Nova from a range of carefully chosen viewpoints. By shifting between distance, proximity, street level and elevated perspectives, the images present the building both as part of the city and as an independent spatial object.
The photography focuses not only on the form and materiality of Casa Nova, but also on the way the building relates to its surroundings. The different perspectives reveal how façades, volumes, reflections and urban lines respond to one another in changing ways. The result is a series that shows the architectural structure of the building with clarity, without reducing it to a single recognizable image.
With this commission, Wilschut connects to his broader practice, in which architecture is read as a concentrated form of urban change. In the photographs, Casa Nova does not appear as a detached icon, but as a building whose meaning continues to shift through light, position and use.
