Volt

For Barcode Architects, Hans Wilschut photographed VOLT, a residential complex in Delft’s Spoorzone district, completed in 2020. The design consists of three sculptural building volumes arranged around a communal courtyard garden, offering a contemporary interpretation of the traditional Delft courtyard.

The photographic series focuses on the interplay between the robust exterior façades and the light, intimate spaces within. Through a careful use of perspective, light and composition, the different geometric forms and rich architectural detailing are brought into focus. The images reveal how the building takes on a different character from every viewpoint and how its architecture relates to the urban surroundings of the former railway district.
