Bruut/Brutal

The new book Bruut/Brutal has been published. In this publication, Hans Wilschut follows the transformation of a distinctive office building in Eindhoven as it enters a second life after fifty years. Over the course of two years, he documents this metamorphosis from close range, with a sharp eye for the interplay of steel, concrete, light, and space. What emerges is not simply a renovation, but a gradual process in which an existing building sheds its former function and slowly develops into a new icon for the city. Bruut/Brutal shows how architecture changes over time, and how a particular kind of beauty can arise precisely in that intermediate phase.
