Beste Rotterdamse Boek 2015

The window of his hotel room overlooking the square in front of Rotterdam Central Station, a camera, and the weather. That was all photographer Hans Wilschut had at his disposal for eight years. That this was anything but dull is evident in the result of this long term project on the making of the new station: the book Centraal, with its almost ethereal images of this transformation.

Specially for the Rotterdamse Schouwburg, the project was translated into a multimedia presentation, which was on view there throughout the month of April. In 2015, the book was chosen by readers as the “Best Rotterdam Book.” Jan Wilschut, father of Hans Wilschut, accepted the award during the Rotterdam readers’ celebration.
