Dey Your Lane! Lagos Variations

Curated by Azu Nwagbogu, director of LagosPhoto, Dey your Lane! captures the energy of Lagos through photography, video, and soundscapes. The title refers to a common expression in the city, a phrase that roughly means: mind your own business. In a megacity where people live in close proximity and public space is constantly contested, the expression takes on a particular sharpness. The exhibition shows how the residents of Lagos move through an urban environment that is at once overcrowded, inventive, and powerful. It reveals how private lives and collective ambitions develop side by side, and how people continually claim and reshape the space of the city. Through Nwagbogu’s curatorial lens, Lagos emerges as a place where individuality, creativity, and improvisation continuously take on new forms. A rich programme of Nigerian cinema, literature, and contemporary dance deepens the exhibition and places it within a broader cultural context.
