Photo Festival Reizen in Tijd

 In 2025, De Stad Verbeeldt commissioned Hans Wilschut to create a series exploring greening initiatives in and around Zwolle. The project, titled Visions of Green, is now presented in a new installation and forms a transition between the exhibitions Reizen door de Tijd and Bold City.

In Visions of Green, Wilschut brings together different perspectives on greening within the cultural landscape. In doing so, he reflects on the way we shape and construct our surroundings.

Zwolle is a city where different layers of time remain visible. Along the IJssel river, but also on the urban fringes where newly developed residential areas merge into the countryside. These transitional zones are of particular interest to Wilschut. They led him to ask fundamental questions: how do people shape the landscape, and where does that landscape find a sense of rest?

The series makes the tension between culture and nature almost tangible. Using an elevated platform, Wilschut chose a higher viewpoint, allowing him to unravel the structure of the landscape and reveal the interaction between people and their environment.
