The Salzbergbahn in Hallstatt connects the village to the Salzberg, where the salt mine and the Skywalk are located. The funicular takes about two minutes and operates as a compact tourist infrastructure, moving visitors up and down in a steady rhythm.
This simple movement reveals a broader shift. Here, the mountain is not only a geographical elevation, but also a place charged with historical and economic meaning: an area linked to salt extraction for around 7,000 years, and today consumed primarily as destination, view, and experience. The video work focuses on this pendular movement as an image of a site where exploitation, heritage, and tourism flow into one another. The cabin transports people, but at the same time it organizes their relationship to the landscape.
