Central Yards is part of the series Moments in Between, in which Hans Wilschut turns his attention to transitional moments in the urban fabric. These are places where the city is in flux and its next form is already taking shape, while traces of the old remain visible.

In 2013, Wilschut photographed the construction of a road tunnel in Central Hong Kong, near Central Ferry Pier. The new road is being built underground; above ground, the future remains open. Thirteen years later, Central Yards is rising on this site, a groundscraper approximately 400 metres long along Victoria Harbour. Central Yards carries a visionary quality. The image draws the eye into the depths while also looking ahead to a city unfolding horizontally along the harbour.
