Disparity Lines

, 2024

Make an inquiry

Disparity Lines portrays London as an urban fabric marked by fault lines, the result of globalization and the latent force of gentrification. Forces that connect the metropolis to a global economy while disrupting its local rhythms. Capital and migration move through the same streets, but not with the same freedom.

As new investments make façades gleam, the contours of the familiar begin to fade. The project focuses on neighbourhoods where human presence has etched itself deeply into the streetscape. Here, the city breathes through its inhabitants: through small gestures, through rituals of coexistence that repeat themselves between market stalls, porches and pavements. Social cohesion arises not from shared origin, but from proximity, from the ability to endure difference and to find within it a rhythm of togetherness. The subtle friction between nearness and distance becomes visible in a reflection, in a wall covered with painted-over traces, in a body moving between past and promise. Disparity Lines is an inquiry into the city as a living contradiction, a place of inequality and imagination, where the human scale is continually being reinvented.
